The museum’s nationally renowned collection spans generations and features everything from Italian and Spanish masters to 20th-century American paintings and sculptures. Masterpiece Minute Podcast
A unique sixty-second podcast, Masterpiece Minute highlights the most important works in the museum’s collection. The host highlights the historical context and significance of each piece. You can listen to over thirty recorded shows to discover the hidden messages on ancient bowls and much more. Listen to new episodes every other Friday at 10:00 a.m.
The ever-popular docent-led tours have now gone virtual. There are dozens of topics to choose from, and each tour lasts approximately 50 minutes. One of the choices includes the Art of South and Southeast Asia. The docent will take you on a fascinating journey spanning nearly 2,000 years. The tour feature works from places such as Tibet and Sri Lanka and focuses on the wide range of materials and subject matter used throughout the region.
SDMA Virtual Performances
The virtual performances are offered by the San Diego Museum of Art in collaboration with other local arts institutions. New performances are released on select Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m., and you can catch up on past shows on YouTube. Highlights include the San Diego Ballet and the San Diego Shakespeare Society.
